Amsterdam Mamas Vintage Santa Tram and Christmas Market 2014

For many families Santa Claus or Father Christmas is an essential part of Christmas celebrations.

In 2012 Amsterdam Mamas celebrated a small Santa Tram event with approximately 250 people and 3 vintage trams. The second annual event in 2013 was larger, including over 475 people and 5 vintage trams. Families sang Christmas carols and chatted as the historic trams gently bumped their way through the winter sunlight into the Amsterdamse Bos and back again. The jolly Santa welcomed families and posed for pictures, while a beautiful choir sang traditional carols on the platform. Faces were painted and cakes were on sale. Volunteer elves had been hard at work and it paid off: joy was spread throughout the community, as families came together for a spectacular event.

The 2014 Christmas extravaganza is going to be even bigger and better!

An extra tram has been added and Amsterdam Mamas are combining their traditional Vintage Santa Tram rides with a Christmas Market during one event! This way, more families can join them and Santa at this special event:

• Face painting
• Caroling
• Arts & Crafts with Mariposa Vlinder
• Penguin Books‘ Story Corner with Karina Schaapman, author of Mouse Mansion

There will also be a box of mystery where you’ll have a chance to win a kitchen and a dollhouse from Kidkraft, a free term of Baby Sensory Amsterdam or sets of Food Huggers.

Tram tickets are on sale for €10 per person, excluding a 6.4% booking fee. VIP tickets that include a backstage tour of the engine houses and trams are on sale for €12,50. Children under 24 months are free of charge but they need to be registered and will have to sit on a parent’s lap.

The Christmas Market and additional activities are free for everybody.

Doors open at 9.30 A.M. and trams depart at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00.

Each tram ride lasts about 40 minutes with VIP tours taking place right after and lasting approximately 30 minutes. Tram rides require reservations for a specific time slot. Please inform us which tram you would like to be on and we will try to accommodate as much as we can. You will receive an email confirming your tram departure time once we are fully booked.
