Every year Amsterdam puts on a huge celebration for Gay Pride. The event is designed to promote equality for the gay, lesbian and transgender communities.
The Amsterdam Gay Pride event starts with a canal parade and a week of parties and events leading up to the main parties thrown over the weekend.
Amsterdam is famous for its tolerance and liberal-minded attitude and over the years has created a safe environment for gays, lesbians and transgenders to both visit and live in.
